Large antique Spanish royal or military-style flag featuring the traditional red and yellow horizontal fields of Spain, with a prominent crowned coat of arms representing the historic kingdoms of Castile and León.
The central heraldic device features a quartered shield displaying two castles and two lions beneath a royal crown. The elaborate insignia is constructed from individually cut and applied fabric elements, with embroidered accents and stitched detailing. The flag is fashioned from lightweight, loosely woven textile with a reinforced canvas hoist, braided rope attachments, and a turned wooden toggle.
The design reflects traditional Spanish royal and military heraldry, particularly that associated with the 19th and early 20th centuries. Although similar flags were employed in Spanish military and naval contexts, the precise designation and period of manufacture of this particular example have not been established.
