When wound, the clockwork mechanism shows signs of life and appears to want to operate; however, the toy requires a gentle manual push to begin moving. Once started, it will run only briefly (approximately a few seconds) before coming to a stop. Due to age, the mechanism likely requires cleaning, adjustment, lubrication, and/or tuning by someone familiar with antique clockwork toys.
