12-panel stoneware bottle. J.D. Vail & Company bottled ale, beer, and ciders in St Louis, Missouri from 1867 to 1872 before moving to Joilet, Illinois.
There is, what appears to be, a very faint hairline on the base that runs to the right side edge.
Few defects and roughness from the original manufacturing process but no chips or large cracks, fairly clean example with a deep and bold stamp!
