Antique “The Ross Table Wash-Stand” manufactured by the Forest City Furniture Co. of Rockford, Illinois, dating to approximately the late 1880s–1890s.
An unusual piece of late Victorian convertible furniture designed to appear as an attractive occasional table when closed. The hinged top opens to reveal a large mirror and recessed washstand compartment originally intended to accommodate washing necessities, including a basin and related accessories.
Constructed primarily of oak with attractive period detailing, turned accents, lower shelf, and small casters. The interior appears to have been repainted green at some point in its history. An original interior hinged cover/door is missing.
There is one spot on the surface, where the it appears there was slight water damage
