Antique Brass Spirit Alcohol Lamp Stand Jeweler Dental Lab Blowpipe Heating Devic
Offered is an unusual antique brass spirit lamp apparatus dating to approximately the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1885–1915). Constructed of brass with a heavy weighted base, this piece features an adjustable vertical support with a large suspension ring, a hollow horizontal tube or arm, and a removable brass spirit (alcohol) lamp complete with its original turned wooden carrying handle.
While I have been unable to positively identify the exact purpose of this apparatus, my research suggests it was likely used in a professional workshop or laboratory setting. Possible uses include a jeweler's blowpipe soldering lamp, dental laboratory spirit lamp, or other specialized scientific or technical heating apparatus. It is also possible that the horizontal tube originally accepted a now-missing attachment or accessory, making the exact function difficult to determine.
Measures approximately 19.5 inches tall from the base to the top ring. Base diameter of 5.25 inches.
Measures 8 inches across. The oil burner insert with the wood handle is approximately 7 inches from the base to the top of the handle and 2.5 inches base diameter.
