Lot of two vintage U.S. military reusable steel shipping/storage drums, both manufactured by MIRAX of St. Louis and finished in olive drab green.
These rugged containers were designed for military storage and transportation of equipment and components. One retains its original yellow “REUSABLE DRUM – DO NOT DESTROY” marking and is embossed MS24347-24. The other retains its original military inventory stencil identifying its former contents as an “INDICATOR” under the 6685 Federal Supply Class, associated with military measuring/instrumentation equipment.
The indicator drum also retains an original red “METHOD II PACKAGE – PACKAGED WITH DESICCANT – DO NOT OPEN UNTIL READY FOR USE OR INSPECTION” label marked DA Label 16, 1 Aug 52. This is the label/form revision date and should not necessarily be interpreted as the date the drum itself was manufactured.
