Vintage Peter Helck Bronze Bust Larry Braun Meadow Brook Concours Racing Trophy
A finely executed bronze portrait bust depicting Peter Helck (1893–1988), widely regarded as the "Father of Automotive Illustration" and one of the most influential automotive artists of the twentieth century.
The sculpture is signed by noted automotive sculptor Lawrence "Larry" Braun, an acclaimed artist whose works have honored many of the automotive world's most celebrated figures, including Enzo Ferrari. Braun himself was a recipient of the prestigious Peter Helck Award, recognizing excellence in automotive art.
According to information provided by Dan Sommer, son of Don Sommer of American Arrow, this bust is believed to have been produced as an award for the Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance (Concours of America), one of the nation's premier automotive concours events.
The marble base bears the emblem of American Arrow Corporation of Clawson, Michigan, founded by Don Sommer. American Arrow was well known within the collector-car community and played a significant role in the creation and sponsorship of awards and trophies for Meadow Brook and other prestigious automotive events.
