RARE Antique Railroad Electric Utility Caboose Service Lamp Light Macbeth Evans Liberty Lens
Online price matches in-store price
Very likely an industrial light used on a railroad caboose, platform / depot or locomotive step / service light based on the mounting bracket and style of the housing.
There are no markings on the housing and I was unable to get the back screws removed to inspect the inside for markings.
Lens is a "Liberty Lens" manufactured by the Macbeth-Evans Glass Company and a Type-D No. 4769-B-(, whcih was widely used on both automotive headlights and industrial spotlights or service lights, such as this housing.
Two cracks in the metal housing. Had been completely painted black by a previous owner.
Lamp itself is sold as-is, non-working. The interior sounds like it has surface rust, as I can hear rusted flakes inside when the lamp is gently shaken.
