Original 1890s Hires Root Beer Victorian Framed Litho Advertising Sign Antique
An outstanding lithographed cardboard sign depicting a very young girl holding a package of Hires Root beer extract and retaining its original stamped Hires Root Beer frame, circa 1890s.
The frame itself has undergone some restoration. As common with these gesso-frames, some of the gesso had cracked and chipped off, and these pieces were glued back in place. The paint on the frame is either touched up or completely repainted. Originally, it would have been silver metallic with gold embellishments. It’s very likely that it was repainted black and gold touchups added after the fact.
Backside was papered again.
Frame measures approx. 14.5” by 17.5”
