Antique Primitive Red Painted Step Back Cupboard Cabinet Kitchen Hutch Farmhouse Country
Antique American primitive step-back cupboard dating from approximately 1840-1870. Constructed primarily of pine with wide-board construction, original red painted exterior, and a beautifully contrasting blue painted interior.
This cupboard features two upper display shelves, a spacious work surface, two drawers, and lower cabinet storage with multiple interior shelves. The simple lines, square wooden pulls, wide backboards, and untouched country construction give the piece exceptional primitive character.
The exterior red paint appears to be original to the cabinet and has never been repainted. The cabinet displays honest wear consistent with generations of farmhouse use, including paint wear, surface scratches, minor separations, and imperfections expected of a piece of this age.
Please note that a previous owner had painted portions of the drawer interiors, lower storage area, and upper shelving a bright orange and applied floral wallpaper. The wallpaper has been carefully removed and those interior surfaces have been repainted a period-appropriate light blue for a cleaner and more attractive presentation.
The left drawer slides somewhat tightly and could benefit from light sanding or adjustment for smoother operation.
Measures approximately 38.5” x 21” x 75” tall
Each drawer measures (interior): 17“ x 18.25“ x 4.25“ deep
