A Stunning carved and scrimshaw-decorated powder horn measuring approximately 11 inches in length. The horn is extensively engraved with scenes depicting sailing vessels, a coastal townscape, compass star, whale, and decorative motifs, together with the inscription "Charles Towne South Carolina."
Near the base appears an engraved monogram or signature, likely the intertwined initials "J.S.", followed by "'91," suggesting an execution date of 1891. The horn retains its turned wooden end caps, suspension strap, and period construction details.
