Unique estate sale find! The family that this was acquired from believes this was used by their grandfather to inspect fire hydrants or valves?

Angled mirrors on the inside barrel of the scope...my guess is that one end would be inserted into an opening on a hydrant or valve and the angled mirror would allow the user to inspect the condition of the inside of the valve/hydrant.

Only markings on the scope is "Pat Pend".

Comes with pictured sliding wood case.
