Vintage Mapl-Flake Wheat Bran Cereal Battle Creek Michigan Advertising Sign

Measures approx. 20" x 22.25" in height

This sign had been acquired from an estate, in which, when remodeling, the owners had discovered tons of these cardboard pieces used in the walls for insulation. The original owner and builder of the house had worked for a shipping box company in the early 1900s and had used these cardboard pieces for insulation.

These are exactly what early grocery and drug stores would have used for advertising as well! When observing early cabinet photo cards, numerous examples can be seen of "signs" that had simply been cut from the original shipping container.
