Set of three 8” by 8” geometric Art Deco Motawi tiles that pay homage to the iconic American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959).

According to the Motawi website, Wright designed a series of twelve monthly covers for Liberty magazine in 1927. The magazine deemed the covers too Avant-Garde and returned them to Wright. Each of the large Art Deco Motawi Tiles in this auction is based on one of these covers, and they are titled “May Basket in Cream," "Frozen Spheres in Cream," and "March Balloons in Cream.” The back of each tile is impressed with the Motawi Tileworks Studio mark, as well as the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, and is hand-signed by the artist who glazed the tile. ...There are no problems or any restorations to this set of three Frank Lloyd Wright Motawi Pottery Tiles, plus they come ready to display in the original 30 ¼” long by 13 ¼” fumed, Quartered Oak Frame, which is also stamped by Motawi Tileworks on the back. This frame has notches cut into the back, which allows these tiles to be hung horizontally or vertically.
